West Valley College

Stroke Activities Program

What are we doing?

Our program is desigend for adults who have survived a stroke, providing a supportive learning environment that begins where medical rehabilitation ends.  Participants engage in specialized classes focused on Mobility, Strength, and Fitness, fostering independence and maximizing functional abilities. Each class is tailored to meet individual needs, ensuring personalized assessment and skill development. Our goal is to empower students to adapt to functional changes while cultivating a strong sense of community and support among peers.

Who is this for?

This program is for adults seeking to enhance their physical independence and functional skills, regardless of their specific condition.

You can enroll in the Stroke Activities Program if you have recently completed medical rehabilitation or have enduring physical challenges. Participants must be at least 18 years old. Non-California residents will incur out-of-state registration fees.

To benefit from the program, students must be able to work in a group setting and follow directions. Those needing individual supervision for physical care may be asked to bring a personal caregiver. Please be aware that the program is not a respite or drop-in center and does not replace individual therapy.
